Prices change, and many places only switched from leva to euro in 2026, so treat these as a guide and check on the spot. Ticket prices are for adults; students and pensioners usually pay less. Before you go

Eurovision 2027

Burgas hosts the Eurovision Song Contest at Arena Burgas: semi-finals on 11 and 13 May, final on 15 May 2027. The arena opened in 2023 and holds up to 15,000 for concerts. It is about 4 km north-west of the centre, in the Slaveykov district: take a taxi or a city bus. Book your room early.

One ticket, four museums

The Archaeological, Ethnographic, History and Natural History museums cost €3 each, or €9 for all four. Buy the combined ticket at the first one you visit.

Sunrise, not sunset

Burgas faces east. The best light over the sea is at dawn; in the evening the sun sets behind the city.

Summer in the park

From July to September the Sea Garden hosts the Sand Sculpture Festival, and the Summer Theatre has shows most evenings.

Getting here

Trains and buses from Sofia take about 6 hours; flights about 1 hour. From the airport, bus 15 reaches the centre in about 25 minutes for €0.80.

Wind off the sea

Even on warm days the breeze in the Sea Garden can be cool. Bring a light layer for the pier in the evening.

Yes means no

Bulgarians traditionally nod for “no” and shake their head for “yes”. Say да (da) or не (ne) to be sure.
